Brancoveanu’s Palace Complex , Potlogi

Founded at the end of the seventeenth century by the ruler Constantin Brancoveanu,  Potlogi Palace Complex ensamble opened the way for a new way to build, organize and decorate space, known in Romanian history of art and architecture as "Brancoveanu Style" .

Located about 50 km from Bucharest, between Bucharest-Pitesti highway and the old road to Targoviste, the historic ensemble   is a significant tourist and cultural landmark.

Starting from the old manor house  existing on the  estate that Constantin Brancoveanu acquired in 1689, the wallachian ruler builds a new feudal  court , organized on the Italian Renaissance principles and adapted to the local traditions. Around the royal palace, between 1698-1699,  it was created  a coherent functional structure, complex, well-defined and hierarchical, to meet the daily requirements of the time  or the protocol requirements  - specific architecture-building:  garden reception, garden, household and Italian Renaissance type park and a pond as a place of recreation and natural protection on the northern side. Previously (1683), Constantin Brancoveanu founded the church dedicated to St. Demetrios. The chapel became the parish court and then parochial abode.

After 1714 the palace complex  decades. The collateral heirs of the ruler  have shown little interest in this property over the centuries. Over the  nineteenth century and the beginning of the XX-th,  the whole palace complex , continues to  deteriorate to almost total ruin. Entered the cultural heritage of the state by Royal Decree, in 1910, the complex had been sporadically and partially restorated by the authorities.

The current state of the assembly is due to rehabilitation works carried out intermittently between 1991-2006. Since 2007 the Palace ensemble was  returned to the local district administration, becoming  a part of the "Royal Court National Museum Complex" ,Targoviste.

Restoration, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Brancoveanu's Potlogi Complex  were resumed in 2009 by contracting the development of design documentation with theGKSW  ASSOCIATION  by SYNERGETICS CORPORATION SRL, Bucharest, and as general designer: SC WESTROM DESIGN CONSULTING ENGINEERING SRL, Bucharest

4DIMENSIONS, as subcontractor  for works of architecture and restoration, has developed  all the technical designs and plans for all  phases of the three objectives of the Complex: Brancoveanu's  Palace, the main gate and the old house and coordinates the work of design for the entire project
